test

As most of you know, I was supposed to be in Guatemala right now. I am currently typing this from the World Race base in Gainesville Georgia. No worries, Gap C is still going…Just not quite yet.

Last night Gap C was all packed up and ready to head out this morning. This past Tuesday (January 5th), everyone in the squad had to go get COVID tested. (It was mandatory for us to be able to enter Guatemala.) Last night our results slowly started to come in. We were in FULL belief that they would all come back negative… until one didn’t. As we heard the news, all of us were in complete shock. We were told that we would not be able to fly out today and that we would all have to quarantine for 7 days with the hope of no symptoms coming up. We would then go get another COVID test and fly out to Guatemala from there if all results came back negative.

This news hit me hard. As you might know, I was SO excited to be heading out. I became very disappointed and just downright sad about this change of plans. I didn’t understand. I didn’t understand why God would allow this to happen. After much processing today, I feel better and have come to a few truths/realizations that I’m choosing to stand on despite the hard change of plans.

I can trust that God is working in all the things, both seen and unseen, to bring about HIS good plan. He can be trusted with timing. He is in control. He is where the joy is.

Despite my feelings and all the unanswered questions, I can lay in the arms of a beautiful and GOOD Father. I am committed and surrendered to His will/plan for my life above ALL things. These next 7 days in Georgia are for a reason, and I choose to see it as a gift/opportunity for God to teach/grow me through it, and Abba is meeting me in it with so much joy and gratefulness.

So, here I am. In Gainesville Georgia, with an abandoned heart for whatever the Lord wants.

If you have some free time in the next couple of days, I would love to chat and hangout via Facetime/phone. Also, if you have any good songs, podcasts, teachings, etc feel free to send them my way!

Please be praying for Gap C. We’re all walking through this in different ways, and are all needing a negative COVID test come 7 days from now.

I love you guys so so sooooo much. I seriously mean it! 🙂

‘because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, ‘

  5. Kourtney,
I love to hear you write about God’s faithfulness and the joy found in His presence, trusting He will bring good even through the bumps in the road. Just like some of us had for three weeks in Knoxville, these unplanned days could be pivotal, memorable, and some of God’s greatest work amongst you and individually.

Yes, I do have a favorite podcast series and have actually shared it with Jason Esh today as well. It’s a four-part series and is the most solid teaching on guy/girl relationships that I’ve ever heard. The speaker is engaging, funny, and spot on. Maybe you can give it a listen and possible share it with squadmates these next few days.
