Hey friends! I’ve officially been in Guatemala for 10 days! I absolutely love it here, and have found it easy to call Guatemala my home for the next few months. The people here are AMAZING! They have the kindest hearts and are full of so much joy and hospitality. I’ve only been here for 10 days and have made soooo many friends! {They call me “Maize”(short for corn)}

Ministry is in full swing! This past Monday, my team was told that we would be working with One Way Community (OWC) every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday. On Thursdays we do a little something called “ATL” (Ask the Lord).

OWC is a nonprofit organization that looks to love on, empower, increase growth, and develop under-privileged communities of Guatemala. This often looks like fulfilling practical needs, and reaching the community through hosting a soccer ministry program and other events that draw the people in.

ATL has become one of my new favorite things! Thursday morning we hear a teaching, then go out to the streets of Guatemala to activate everything we were just taught. (A whole new level of discipleship)! We simply ask the Lord what it is we should do / where we should go, then we go do it! A day where we do nothing but intentionally seek the Lord’s face.

This week, ministry for me has looked a bit like this:

 Monday: Orientation with OWC, tour of the town, and meeting the staff.

Tuesday: Picked up trash from the soccer field, cleaned/organized a school room, soccer ministry with the young girls

Wednesday: drove 2 hours (sitting in the back of a truck!!!) to a few villages in the mountains. House visits: where we delivered food bags to the families of the kids who come to the soccer ministries. The families welcomed us into their home where we visited and prayed with them.

Thursday: ATL; talked, prayed, and interceded for the people of Guatemala. Some COOL stuff happened!!

Friday: Cleaned chicken eggs, house visits, & delivered school supplies to the families of kids about to start school. Visited and prayed over the families. Carried new beds into a few of the families house.

This week has been so sweet, and I have continuously seen the Lords faithfulness. I’m so excited to continue partnering alongside what the Lord is doing here in the Country of Guatemala. It’s evident that the Lords hand is in the midst of this place, and it’s an honor to be here!

  1. It’s heart-filling to see you get started in full swing of your international mission work. As you experience these amazing people and places doing God’s work, know that you are touching and motivating so many more to seek out what they can do. Stay strong, well, and empowered! Thank you for sharing your first 10 days ??. Love “seeing” you in action.

  2. What you’re doing is awesome! I love reading your posts. You are right where God wants you to be! Enjoy your ministry there and can’t wait to hear more about your adventures. Stay safe and healthy!

  3. Kourtney, Colleen and I are so excited to know the team is finally in Guatemala! You all have been patiently waiting for God to open this door of ministry. Yet in the meantime the team grew significantly both spiritually and in love for each other! Thanks for sharing! Colleen and I truly enjoyed “ATL”. It’s neat to see how God orchestrates a day of ATL when you go out.
    Can’t wait to hear the stories of awesome experiences God has for all of you! Continue to allow God to mold you in the likeness of His Son, Jesus! Proud of you!
